It seems that even the genteel game of golf cannot escape the threat of hooliganism. We have seen plenty of ‘incidents’ involving younger people’ at golf estates in South Africa, but the wanton destruction experienced by Evans Head Golf Club in Australia, defies belief!

If you are trying to position your region as a golf destination, then it will take teamwork, and a concentrated effort to keep the ‘product’ fresh – either by reinvesting in the development of new courses, or by upgrading the existing layouts and the supporting facilities.

If you are planning a golf ‘excursion’ to Europe at any time in 2026, then Portugal is one of those destinations where BG’s mantra of – ‘don’t just pack the clubs, take the family too!’ - can really pay off!

Golfers should remember that you do not have to live on a golf estate – many golfers are members of estate courses, but then live ‘off site’ – to keep playing your favourite game, and enjoy the benefits of community living.
